I kept thinking about resolution as the newest benchmark but after 4K there just isn’t any more need for resolution. The solid-state loading stuff is really revolutionary. But I do wonder what will be beyond… I’m hoping the new push will be less on technical feats and more of developing really great stories… though we are beginning to see some fantastic narratives. Halo or Gears of war IMO, the Baby Yoda I Don’t Care What Day It Is It’s Early I’m Grumpy I Want Pepsi Shirt only game that I have ever finished and said “wow” to was Red Dead Redemption II, I want to make the switch to PlayStation so badly because I want that experience with every game I play! And PS4-5 has games with just that! Games will continue to embrace their many societal roles as behavior shapers, pacifiers, experience-sharing devices, training platforms, economic/retail/work platforms, war, and social platforms. Whoever monetizes these roles most effectively (or embeds them at a government policy level most effectively) is going to replace current social networks.
